SC Johnson Professional Survey Shows Americans Value Cleaning Transparency in Vacation Rental Properties

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – June 28, 2021 – A new online survey commissioned by SC Johnson Professional, the makers of Windex®, Scrubbing Bubbles®, fantastik® and more, revealed that 71% of Americans say a vacation rental owner's transparency with their cleaning processes would have an impact on their decision to select a vacation rental property. The survey also found that nearly two-thirds of Americans (65%) say their decision to select a vacation rental property would be impacted by whether the vacation rental property owner displays materials that certify the unit has been cleaned using well-known brands. The survey of more than 2,000 U.S. adults was conducted in April 2021 for SC Johnson Professional by The Harris Poll.

"The pandemic forever changed how the public approaches travel," said Mike Flagg, Head of SC Johnson Professional's North American Business. "This study shows that being transparent with cleaning processes by displaying materials could influence a traveler's decision on choosing vacation rentals."

Travelers are expecting a higher level of cleanliness, and using the proper cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting products to meet customer expectations is vital. Keeping property rentals clean with well-known brands can reassure guests that vacation rental property owners and managers take cleaning seriously. 

The poll also revealed that 60% of Americans say their decision to select a vacation rental property would be impacted if the rental owner uses well-known brands of cleaning products.
