SC Johnson Professional Canada Announces Winners in Happy Hands Contest!
BRANTFORD, ON. – May 25, 2021 – And the winners of SC Johnson Professional’s Happy Hands Contest are: Khloe I., a grade 4 student at Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School in Burnaby, BC and Kylie C. a grade 8 student at Bayside Middle School in Saint John, NB. The contest, which promotes the importance of handwashing and sanitizing in K-8 schools, “drew” in nearly 800 student submissions and over 2,500 votes.
“It’s heartwarming to see the excitement around the student designs and hand hygiene, and support from the schools and communities,” said Mike Flagg, head of SC Johnson Professional’s North American business. “Hand hygiene is such a critical step in preventing the spread of germs, and we hope that this contest serves as a fun reminder for practicing good hand hygiene.”
Both students will receive a $300 gift card. Each winning student’s school receives a $1,000 donation, and the winning designs will be custom printed for free on up to 500 SC Johnson ProfessionalTM manual soap/sanitizer dispensers.
“Being able to showcase the importance of handwashing in a fun and creative way through SC Johnson Professional’s Happy Hands contest was a delight for students,” said Mrs. King, Khloe’s grade 4 teacher at Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School. “We are unbelievably proud of Khloe and thank all of those who supported her throughout the contest.”
The 800 student submissions were initially evaluated for visual appeal, overall hand hygiene design, unique design elements and creativity between September 1, 2020 through November 30, 2020. Five finalists in both grade level categories were chosen, and public votes were cast in this year’s contest throughout the month of February.
Ms. McDermott, Kylie’s teacher at Bayside Middle School added: “We are thrilled that Kylie was chosen as a winner in this year’s contest. Hand hygiene plays a critical role in keeping our students safe not only during the COVID-19 pandemic, but every day. This was a perfect opportunity to continue teaching our students about the importance of hand hygiene.
